Who Am I?

Hi my name is Arnold Cumba, and I am in kidney failure and in urgent need of a kidney transplant. I have raised two amazing children unfortunately, my son passed away and I only have my daughter, Jeneen, who is choosing to stay home to be my caregiver and support my journey. I want her to be able to live a normal life, find a love of her own and thrive instead of staying home to care for me.

My Interests:

Spending as much time with my family, friends and church members. Playing my guitars, singing country music, playing the drums, swimming, working out, the beach, cooking, animals and nature, 4H Fairs, flea markets, short walks, watching old time western movies, sitting in the sun, loving life.

My Diagnosis:

End Stage Kidney Failure

I was originally diagnosed with diabetes which eventually led to my kidney failure. Kidney disease is a genetic condition that runs in our family, which I inherited as well. In fact, my daughter, Jeneen was declined as my donor because of her own kidney damage. This is one of the most important reasons to continue living so I can be there for her who I love with all my heart.

How A Kidney Transplant Will Affect My Life:

A kidney transplant miracle would enable me to live life once again with the people I love. I feel like I have so much more living to do. I was always energetic, felt younger than my age, full of life, and a sense of humor I’m being told people miss. I believe a transplant will allow me to do the things I used to do before I became emotionally and physically exhausted from kidney failure. I am a very social person, I love to meet new people, and I miss being more involved with my church since being sick with kidney failure. I would love to be able to be my old self again for my family who still needs me, and for myself.

A transplant will bring joy and laughter to my loved ones again, especially my daughter who I can’t bare to lose. She is my world and a transplant would give me the greatest gift, which would be to spend many more years together with her. We do almost everything together like two peas in a pod. Life is priceless and a blessing to me. I would love to be given a second chance at living life again.

Kidneys from living donors generally last longer and have better outcomes, reduces waiting time for a kidney, free you from dialysis, even if your potential donor is not a match they make it possible for you to get a living donor transplant if you both participate in the paired exchange program.
